TES Institute wins at the Bett Awards 2016
The ceremony was hosted by comedian Alex Horne at The Brewery in central London, and was attended by the great and the good of the sector and finalists in the 20 awards categories.
The categories range from Primary Digital Content (Core Subject Content), which was picked up by Oxford University Press for their Big Writing Adventures; to ICT Service and Support, awarded to Scomis; and ICT Company of the Year (less than £3 million turnover), which went to Bksb.
TES Institute was among the evening’s winners, taking home the esteemed accolade for the best Learning, Teaching and Assessment Tools for Schools.
TES Institute started life as as TES Courses in 2015 and provides online CPD courses for teachers.
In the autumn it expanded to include other forms of teacher training, including subject knowledge enhancement courses, School Direct PGCE, and a Straight to Teaching QTS programme.
The judges said: "The courses promote creativity and primary learning across the curriculum." The judges summarised the achievement by stating that the courses were "excellent value for money, compensating for a lack of appropriate, available continuing professional development".
Rob Grimshaw, chief executive of TES Global, said of the award: "I am delighted to see TES Institute’s professional development courses recognised by Bett. A great deal of thought has been put into the content and technology behind them and they are proving very popular with teachers, including our most recent course on growth mindset. This win underlines TES Institute’s position as a real innovator in all areas of teacher training."
