Next up in our weekly series of management tips, Mike Brown, London's transport commissioner, shares one of his most important management lessons.

Transport is a 24/7 industry. From the first train in the morning to the millions of journeys made every day by bus, underground, bike, car and lorry, there is always something happening that demands your attention.

If I had one 'Tip from the Top', it would be that it’s vitally important to keep your drive and ambition alive as you progress in your career.

There will be times where there will be barriers or things don’t go the way you intended but it’s important that you keep that ‘day one’ enthusiasm and ambition in your mind to allow you to rise above the frustrations and show real leadership, both to your immediate team, but also to the wider workforce.
