School roof blamed for sickness

THE notion that school can make you ill is not unheard of among pupils and teachers. But the complaint has now spread beyond the playground. Malcolm Tams, who lives opposite Ysgol Gyfun Cym Rhymni, in Caerphilly, claims his health is being seriously impaired by the school’s aluminium roof which reflects the sun’s glare into his house. He wants compensation to install tinted windows and to plant a line of trees. Caerphilly council admitted an error and plans to paint the roof matt grey. Developers Ballast Wiltshire deny any error.
