‘School run’ clogs Britain’s roads;In brief

THE “school run” accounts for almost a third of all journeys on the nation’s roads, according to the latest national travel survey.

Nearly four in 10 primary children now travel to school by car as do more than a fifth of secondary pupils.

In term-time one in five cars in towns at the peak morning time of 8.50 is on the school run.
