School welcomes non-Muslims

Your headline and article, “Impractical to take other faiths argues Muslim secondary” (TES, February 8) misrepresented the position of Al-Hijrah school.

The school welcomes applications from children of other faiths though none has applied in the 13 years of its existence. What we regard as impractical is a requirement to accept a 25-per-cent non-Muslim intake given that the local population is primarily Muslim.

I would like to emphasise that we have strong links with non-faith schools and a multi-faith teaching staff.
