Schools and local authorities were anxiously waiting this week for news about the Government’s new admissions code. The new slimmer code is expected to scrap local admissions forums, with the Office of the Schools Adjudicator becoming the first port of call for parents’ complaints. The adjudicator’s powers are also expected to be reduced, with fair admissions campaign group Comprehensive Future warning that the office would only be able to recommend changes, rather than imposing them itself.
