ISRAEL: Schooling was disrupted for 23,000 Palestinian pupils in 60 schools in the first three months of the current intifada (uprising) against Israel, says a new report. Tens of schools were damaged and 2.4 million new textbooks could not be distributed because of curbs on movements of people and goods imposed by the Israelis after the uprising began last October.
The report, A Generation Denied, published by Defence for Children InternationalPalestine Section, with support from the United Nations children’s organisation, UNICEF, and other international charities, also documents the deaths of 105 Palestinian children last year - 66 by live ammunition.
