Schools are to be at the forefront of a new bid to dramatically reduce the number of young people using hard drugs. The Government this week announced plans to halve the number of under-25s reported using heroin and cocaine by 2008. The target was one of four key pledges unveiled at the publication of UK drugs tsar Keith Hellawell’s first annual report. Dr Jack Cunningham, minister for the cabinet office, said much of an extra pound;217 million would go to education and treatment over the next decade.
