Heads’ union the NAHT has criticised schools minister Nick Gibb for his claim that “there simply aren’t enough good schools”. Mr Gibb was referring to national admissions statistics, which revealed one in six pupils would not be going to their top choice secondary school. But in an open letter to the minister, NAHT general secretary Russell Hobby said it was “impossible to infer anything about performance” from the figures, and accused Mr Gibb of “belittling the achievements of thousands of dedicated professionals”.
