It is important that schools making huge strides in raising achievement are recognised (TES, February 29). This is what our “most improved celebratory dinner” was designed to do. Although just over 70 of these rapidly improving schools did not achieve the 30 per cent A*-C GCSE grades including English and maths, this does not detract from their excellent work. We are confident these schools will continue on a positive trajectory and reach the Government’s 30 per cent target by 2011.
