National Science and Engineering Week (March 12-21) is being celebrated in style in the Aberdeen area, with activities ranging from science buskers to Lego robot construction.
Ken Skeldon, chair of the British Science Association’s Aberdeen branch, who heads up Aberdeen University’s public engagement with science team, said: “From everyday science performed out of the boot of a car right through to major events that highlight cutting-edge research, we have an action-packed programme that will surely suit all.”
A week-long programme of activities will complement the Scottish Government’s “Do Something Creative, Do Science” campaign, which is being highlighted through a series of “open doors” events allowing 11- to 16- year-olds to get behind the scenes of parts of Aberdeen University.
BP has again supported the annual schools challenge, which this year is a competition to make the best air-powered racing car.
