To celebrate 100 years of successful engineering, Rolls Royce are launching a new science prize. Aimed at teams of three to six (which can include classroom assistants, technicians, parents, governors and representatives from industry) in key stages 1-2 or 3-4, or post-16, the prize will reward teams who devise inspiring and sustainable science teaching plans which address a specific need in their school or college. A nationwide team of science educators will assess entries, submitted by February 25, 2005. Nine finalists will gain pound;5,000 to run their project, a science mentor and a digital video camera to record progress.

The ultimate winner will get pound;15,000 for science teaching in their school, and the runner-up pound;10,000. For full details see the free wallchart inserted in this week’s TES.
