It’s important to enable young people to experience interactive science subjects, as it makes a positive impact on their enjoyment and understanding. STEMNET (the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Network), working with the Department for Children, Schools and Families, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and businesses and schools UK-wide, supports teachers in inspiring young people in demonstrating the possibilities of careers in science.
We have more than 20,000 ambassadors providing practical, “real-life” activities in a fun, stimulating environment outside classrooms through the STEM Clubs Network that already offers almost 1,000 schools free professional guidance in running an after-school club. We are working to support every UK secondary school through the network by 2012.
