Students in south Manchester are being offered the chance to win a Pounds 1,000 scholarship, to tempt them into science.
North Trafford College in Stretford is offering all students who enrol on a BTEC National Diploma course in science the chance to win the Pounds 1, 000 scholarship.
Lecturers hope the carrot will help to reverse a decline in the number of young people taking science subjects at schools and colleges in the area.
Vice-principal Bill Grady said: “It is vital for the science and chemical industries in the UK that young people become convinced that a career in science is essential to the continued health of these industries.”
