#asechat - your virtual science prep room
The staffroom is always a place to exchange ideas. For the science teacher, however, things are even more subject specific, with prep rooms full of teachers and technicians exchanging tips, inspiration and tricks of the trade.
So consider a prep room with no physical walls - but which gets crowded every Monday between 8pm and 9pm. It’s #asechat, a Twitter hashtag started by the Association for Science Education (ASE) to discuss current topics in science, and described by many science teachers as “the best CPD I have ever received”.
Each week the participants vote for a topic on the ASE website (www.ase.org.uknewsase-chat). If you want to join the conversation, simply write a tweet adding #asechat anywhere in the text, so that anyone following the chat will see your comment. Archives of the conversations are kept on the ASE website, as well as a summary.
I will be moderating #asechat using the @tesScience Twitter account on 9 July and 27 August, so why not join us then?
