Salad days

Green-fingered pupils can grow lettuces and other healthy treats with free resources from the British Leafy Salads Association (BLSA).

What is it?

BLSA’s Grow Your Own Salad campaign includes a teacher pack, eight worksheets, salad-growing instructions and an interactive whiteboard activity. They introduce pupils to different types of salad leaves and advise on how to monitor the growth of the salad.

By growing their own food, BLSA hopes that pupils will understand the importance of healthy eating and be more keen to eat their greens.

Two hundred packs, including seed trays, seeds and growing instructions, will be sent to the first schools that apply. The resources will be available to download in time for the new school year in September. Find out more at www.makemoreofsalad.comschools.
