Transform your school into an arctic base camp with Digital Explorer’s Polar Challenge. Pupils participate in expedition training and scientific experiments, and share their experiences with a wider audience. They study the work of polar scientists, learning about issues such as ocean acidification, marine ecosystems and ocean chemistry. Your pupils will also create a research poster, press release and expedition report to let everyone at school know what their chilling adventure involved. The day ends with a mini science conference.
The day gives science and geography pupils from Years 8 to 11 an insight into the Catlin Arctic Survey 2009-11, where scientists camped on the frozen sea ice and endured temperatures of -400C to learn how the region is changing.
Costs range from #163;400 for 30 pupils to #163;1,200 for 120. To book or for further details, go to oceans.digitalexplorer.comeventspolar-challenge-days or email info@digitalexplorer.co.uk.
