“The Big Experiment!” - a competition for all students studying science - has been launched by the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
Focusing on investigation skills, the exams body wants students at secondary schools and colleges which offer SQA qualifications, to tell it about a scientific experiment they have developed with their teacher or lecturer.
“What made it special and innovative? What did you get it out of it?” asks the SQA.
It can be related to any science discipline - biology, chemistry, physics or related subjects. The experiment can be based on formally-assessed work, but does not have to be, and the submissions should be in the form of a science research report - one that includes pictures and film- clips.
