Visitors to the Scottish Parliament’s stand at last week’s “Equal Futures” conference in Glasgow on racism in education would have found themselves drawn to its attractive website logo, www.scottish.parliamentlive.uk, displayed prominently on the stall.

Those expecting a live transmission must have got a shock when they saw a screen showing the late Donald Dewar speaking in the chamber. Worries that their BBC licence fee was being used to contact the after-life were dispelled when further viewing revealed that the action was from the Parliament’s official opening.

The real “live” action was on an adjacent screen broadcasting a meeting of the finance sub-committee. Well, it was almost live.
