Search goes far and wide

CROYDON schools have taken radical steps to solve their staffing crisis - they are travelling to the other side of the world.

Four headteachers have just returned from a week-long recruitment drive in Australia, where they scceeding in filling most of the south London borough's 40 vacancies.

With the teacher recruitment agency TimePlan, which funded the trip, the panel interviewed more than 100 applicants from Melbourne and Adelaide.
