Readers will recall the visit of Abbey primary in Kilwinning to Paris recently to work with French children on a Scottish Opera education project (TESS, March 3).
What we did not report (since we did not know) was that Peter McNamara, North Ayrshire Council’s education supremo, took himself along to ensure the electorate’s cash was being well spent - of course.
McNamara was spirited off to the opera where he was heard to recall: “I hadn’t a clue what was going on because the singing was in Italian and the subtitles were in French, but it was a grand noise!”
One of Irvine’s finest.
