Unison Skills Development Scotland branch, which represents over 70 per cent of SDS careers advisers, notes with interest your article, “Careers `traffic-light’ code halts the personal touch”, 28 September.

Our members have been expressing concerns on an informal basis that the new way of working in schools will result in a reduction in the availability of high quality face-to-face advice to all school pupils.

The branch is currently conducting an all-members survey on SDS’ service modernisation to allow us to quantify and clarify our members’ thoughts on organisational change and its effects on our clients. We will seek to share the survey results with your readers around the end of October.
