The Isle of Skye capital of Portree is to play host to the UK premi re of the first-ever Gaelic-language feature film.

Seachd - The Inaccessible Pinnacle tells the story of a young boy in Skye living with his grandfather in the shadow of a mountain that claimed the lives of his parents. His quest for the truth behind their deaths and the truth behind his grandfather’s incredible stories of poisoned lovers, bloody revenge, water-horses and Spanish gold, lead him to one of Scotland’s most treacherous mountains, the Inaccessible Pinnacle, and an ancient truth he never expected to find... Produced by locally-based Young Films, with support from Scottish Screen, the UK premi re will be on March 28, as part of the Celtic Media Festival (formerly known as the Celtic Film and TV Festival), which is taking place on Skye this year.

An associated website, www.seachd.com, includes a section for children which explains some of the Gaelic history behind the grandfather’s tales - the real Macbeth, the Clearances, the Spanish Armada and the Kelpie.
