It is not often that I use hip-speak, but “gobsmacked” is the only apt description of my reaction to an advert in this week’s TES.
A local education authority advertised for an extended schools adviser with a degree and senior management experience in schools to co-ordinate the work of heads, governors and LEA partners.
The job requires superhuman levels of diplomacy, tact and patience yet the salary offered is equivalent to that of a mid-grade clerical officer. If this is not to be yet another failed initiative, LEAs will have to make a significantly greater commitment to its successful implementation.
