A quarter of Northumberland’s schools could be sold to help solve its education crisis, officials revealed this week. The controversial plans are unveiled in a report from the education director Brian Edwards. They have been criticised by parents and Berwick MP Alan Beith, who said: “It is very unhelpful for schools in Northumberland to have this kind of threat hanging over them.”
