Science and technology

- STEM Central is a new website for science, technology, engineering and maths, aimed at CfE levels three and four (up to S3). Science development officer Wendy French will lead a seminar; 21 September, 1.15pm.

Fantastical forest

Outdoor learning

- St George's School for Girls and Gylemuir Primary in Edinburgh have collaborated on an outdoor learning project with experts from Earthship Calling. Teachers from both schools will talk about Fantastical Forest.

Games legacy

Sport and PE

- What will the London 2012 Olympics and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games mean for Scottish education? This year's Scottish Learning Festival will look at the lasting legacy. Mike Farrell, depute head at Perth Grammar, is on secondment to Education Scotland to oversee education developments. He will join representatives from Calderglen High, South Lanarkshire, the London 2012 Get Set team and Sportscotland to discuss possible whole- school approaches; 21 September, 1.15pm.

Marks on the landscape


- This year's Education Showcase will include a session on Marks on the Landscape. The website will focus on the Fife Earth Project and artist Charles Jencks, who is turning the surface of a coalmine near Kelty into a landscape which will celebrate Scots' influence on cultures on every continent; 22 September, 9.30am.

Discussing moderation


- Graham Stobart, professor at London's Institute of Education, will lead a discussion on moderation which will look at how it is being used overseas and what that means for Building the Curriculum 5; 22 September, 10am.
