Sentiment spoilt by language

Why does the editorial team consider terms such as “bad kids. louts. recalcitrant brats” (Penny Ward, 4 February) appropriate terminology for your very worthy publication? If there is merit in the substance of the article, it is lost in the use of language, the cliches and negative sentiments. Perhaps you intended to set us, your regular and committed readership, a “compare and contrast” exercise with Ewan McIntosh’s article in the same issue - “Free the reins and see them grow”.
