Setback in bid to curb red tape

Key UK Government proposals to give schools in England greater freedom from red tape suffered a setback last week when ministers lost a battle in the House of Lords to abolish duties surrounding child welfare. Education Secretary Michael Gove had hoped to use the Education Bill to remove schools’ duty to co-operate with the local authority and other children’s services.
