D E Owens fires a broadside but misses the boat completely (“Sorry class, the classics of English literature are not for the likes of you”, TES, September 4).

The objection voiced by Jean Shoush is not to the titles in the Everyman series, but to the edition chosen. They have uninspiring covers and use very small font sizes, which make them less suitable for use in schools.
