A typically caustic observation from Diogenes the Cynic (ca 400-325 BC), a Greek thinker said to have roamed Athens in daylight with a lamp, explaining that he was looking for an honest man.

Diogenes was renowned for disregarding domestic comfort (living in a tub) and reputation.

When Alexander the Great asked if he wanted anything, he replied: “You could move out of the sun and not cast a shadow on me.”
