Shakespeare test scrapped

* The QCA today announced that it is scrapping the controversial Shakespeare test. From next year, the KS3 writing test will be replaced by a short assessment within the general writing paper. The only assessment of Shakespeare will be through a comprehension exercise, worth 18 of 100 marks. In recent years, 38 of 100 marks have gone to the Shakespeare paper.
