The Secondary Heads Association has accused Gillian Shephard, the Education and Employment Secretary, of treating teachers with “callous indifference” in proposing to change arrangements to let teachers retire early. John Sutton, SHA’s general secretary, has written to Mrs Shephard asking her to reconsider the plan.
