Shorter day row

I am glad that there is a row in Scottish Borders (TESS, March 30) about the length of the school day for primary 1 pupils. Teachers want it easy - only a half-day. Almost all of the childrn are used to nursery, in many cases from 8 am to 6 pm. Why make life convenient for teachers and inconvenient for working parents?
