Should weak teachers face the firing squad?

https://www.tes.com/magazine/archive/should-weak-teachers-face-firing-squad

I came into teaching from industry a few years ago and I have been disgusted by the lack of training and development. Most of the money seems to be diverted into senior management training and little seems to be available to train people who are committed to the classroom.

Having worked in a number of schools, I have observed widely differing interpretations of what is, and isn’t, good teaching. If you are going to start sacking people, you have to make sure that you have some consistent basis for doing it.
