Merv Rolfe, Lord Provost of Dundee, was recalling last week those halcyon days of Tayside Region when he was education convener. Rolfe particularly remembered the discussions about the optimum size of secondary school, which seemed to settle eventually around the 600-800 mark.
This found favour with one of the double-barrelled councillors on the opposition benches who commented: “Yes, quite right, about battalion size.”
