As we get older, most of us look forward to health check-ups with diminishing enthusiasm. Colleges are no exception.
The Learning and Skills Development Agency recently offered colleges a “health check” with a payment of pound;2,000 from the Standards Fund. The money was to “resource external facilitation of the process”. In other words, to have someone hold their hands while they dropped their trousers for the doctor. Not surprisingly, some colleges decided, to return their pound;2,000 cheques and give the health check a miss.
