TEACHERS forced to stop work due to ill health should now receive their notice pay, London’s high court decided last week. Eric Dorling, who left Woodthorpe primary school in Sheffield in 1999 after working at the school for 22 years, is now in line for pound;5,000 from Sheffield City Council. Sheffield education authority claimed Mr Dorling’s employment had ended automatically because of his illness and that he should resign. But the court decided the authority had a duty to terminate his employment under the notice period he had earned through his period in that job.
