Sight problems may affect 2m

Up to two million children may be falling behind at school because of sight problems, the Royal National Institute for the Blind said this week.

Research suggests that between 17 per cent and 22 per cent of children had an undiscovered eye problem, it said. It wants the Government to introduce universal screening for children at ages five, seven and 11.
