Silly seasoning

I saw only two newspapers on holiday in the first half of August. In the first, the Prime Minister blamed Britain’s poor Olympic performance on schools. In the second, I read that Group 4 is to oversee the inspection of nursery schools.

August, it seems, has comfortably retained its reputation as the silly season for the media. Or could these stories really be true?
