Sin-bin tag’s cost to our pupils

For the past three years this school has developed an in-school exclusion centre and, far from being a “sin bin” as described in the headline (TES, October 2), we have sought to adopt a positive approach to working with often difficult, disaffected and disruptive pupils.

Many of the pupils referred to the centres have already had a lifetime of being branded failures, and negative headlines such as this, do little but give the impression of a containment facility - but at what cost and to whom?
