A single-minded team effort?

CHIEF inspector of schools David Bell may have said that The Curriculum in Successful Primary Schools report demonstrates that it is not just supermen and women who can turn around schools (TES, October 18), but if you look at the main recommendations (pages seven and eight) you will still read statements such as: “headteachers were single-minded in their approach”; “strong personal involvement” and “successful in their determination”. Oddly, there is then reference to “a strong sense of teamwork”. It is so heartening that there is no sense here of having-your-cake-and-eating-it whatsoever.
