Hallelujah! Hallelujah! A special event for people working with young singers is to be held to help them exchange ideas and meet experts working with groups and choirs.

The Singposium 2007, organised by Music for Youth, will give teachers the chance to learn about everything from finding the right repertoire to leading rehearsals.

There will be a series of keynote addresses, workshops, exhibitions and demonstrations from professionals, including Gareth Malone, choirmaster from BBC2 show The Choir, Eileen Bentley, founder of the Oldham girls’

choir, and Mike Reinstein, co-publisher of The Tommy Tomato Songbook.

Composer Howard Goodall, who is leading a government campaign to increase singing in schools, has welcomed the event.

He said: “Singposium looks set to be a thoroughly invigorating day of shared ideas techniques and approaches.”

The event will take place 9am-5pm on July 10 at the Birmingham Repertory theatre and costs pound;55. Register by June 1.
