Sinister plans to kill us off early

THERE is something sinister in the decision to increase teachers’ retirement age.

Last year a pensions’ adviser visited our school. He presented some chilling actuarial data: If you retire at 65, your retirement is measured at an average of 18 months.

If you retire at 55, your retirement is measured at an average of seven years post 65!

It’s a double whammy. By increasing the retirement age of teachers the Government will save money twice: from the five-year extension to working life and then the consequent reduction in life expectancy.

I resent this Government effectively having the right to shorten my life to save money.
