A new scheme to help schools forge links with the wider world, business and the local community has been set up in memory of Steve Sinnott, the late general secretary of the NUT. The Sinnott Fellowship will pay for 15 secondary teachers or teaching assistants to spend two days a week for two terms helping schools abroad, local voluntary groups, services and businesses. Applications will be invited towards the end of the year. Funding runs until 2011.
