An A grade has been achieved by

every candidate who sat Higher Russian this year.

A total of 16 people at 14 exam centres around the country took the exam, all of whom received the top grade.

There was also one candidate for Standard grade Russian, who achieved a grade 1. At Advanced Higher, three out of four candiates got an A, the other earning a B.

“As the number of candidates for Higher Russian is very small, a spread of results across grades would not necessarily be expected,” said a Scottish Qualifications Authority spokeswoman.

“Much work has been done to enhance support materials and ensure common modern language arrangements, which have all had a beneficial impact on Russian provision.”
