Andrew Breavington, education quality manager, said: "We launched a small-schools project which started with teachers and governors looking at ways in which small schools can support each other and work together."
The initiativehas provided computers and two ICT advisers to work with teachers. Mr Breavington's next ambition is to set up video conferencing for staff training.
He said: "A small school may lack staff or experience in certain areas. This way we can share expertise."
The youth service is also used to take PE equipment and trained staff to different schools in the area.
