NEW research shows smokingduring pregnancy can contribute to serious behaviour problems in children. It is an important risk factor in developing attention deficit disorder, problems with motor skills and perception, says an article in the Archives of Disease in Childhood. In experiments, rats exposed to nicotine in the womb sustain subsequent behaviour problems and delay in maturation of brain cells.
