Software ...for free

SCHOOLS can still claim a free copy of Microsoft’s Encarta 2000 encyclopedia or dozens of other software titles just by registering for the TES Software for Schools campaign.

Schools registering on-line get 350 tokens (enough for Encarta and one or two more software titles). Postal registration earns 250 tokens (enough for Encarta plus one other package). Schools now have until October 8 to register for their bonus tokens.

Following the successful Books for Schools scheme, more than pound;35 million worth of educational software is on offer in the campaign, the biggest schools promotion of its kind (see Friday magazine, page 12).

Tokens can be exchanged for about 100 titles from publishers, including Lotus, Europress and Microsoft until December.

Schools can collect, and exchange, an unlimited number of the tokens, which will be published in next week’s TES, in the Times, and in the Sunday Times next week.

Tokens will also be available with purchases from Time Computers and WH Smith. Seventy five or 100 will be needed to redeem most titles.
