TEACHERS in part of south-east London are out of pocket this month after Croydon Council forgot to give them their annual pay rise. To add insult to injury, the council still managed to deduct the increased national insurance contributions from teachers’ pay slips. A council spokesman blamed “human oversight” for the failure to give teachers their 2.9 per cent increase.
