My Year 3 discussed sexism after a boy’s comment about our new construction kit: “Girls can’t play K’Nex.” We asked whether this was true and talked about gender stereotypes. I decided on a little positive discrimination, allowing only the girls to use the construction toys. At the end of the day I went to see what they had achieved.

“Look,” they cried, “we’ve made a Hoover.”
